Chris came down and did a seminar for the kids and adults. He worked loads of drills for pulling and timing the opponent. Everyone loved the session and we had great fun and learned a lot of good tips that we will put into practice in the next tournaments.
Well done John Ayres for getting his Purple belt in light con discipline.
He had to perform all of the past grading techniques plus new ones. and rounds on bags and pads and many rounds of sparring to achieve this result Congratulations
Well done everyone who came to the quiz night. £955.80 was raised to send Charlotte to the world championships!!!
This from Belinda.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our quiz night, we hope you really enjoyed yourselves. We are just checking stock but hope to give you an update on the amount raised soon. Thank you once again to Sharon Louise Ally for your help and support and also to Nicky for putting the quiz together. Thanks also to Ron our quiz master for the evening and Harriet for her fabulous face painting. Our thanks also to all the companies and individuals for their donations, we are really humbled by your generosity.
There’s a few who will tell you, i was really worried about how it would turn out last night but for once I’m truly lost for words and thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart.
The countdown is on as Charlotte heads out to Venice in two weeks time and she will continue to train hard under Ron and George in the meantime. We are very lucky to work with these awesome coaches who constantly push and develop everyone within BKO and who through time and dedication have developed Charlotte’s fighting where she is now traveling across Europe and competing at the highest level.

The September beginners course got off to a flying start with 15 new pupils. After a short introduction and handing out paperwork etc we were off! Beginning with a short warm up consisting of running and then playing various forms of tag we got straight into learning the first punches on focus pads. Then some stretching and kicking using the bar and with partners.
We then learnt the first defences and culminated with putting it all together on the punch bags.
The work rate was high and there were plenty of red faces, but everyone survived well. Great atmosphere and a great start to teh course.
We still have some space if any late comers want to join.
A big THANK YOU! to the Post office for their donation of £1000 to the club. We are using the funds to pay for the kids entries to tournaments. Focusing on children who are beginners or want the opportunity to gain more experience in competitions and become future champions.

Friday saw the final day of the summer camp. 15 hours of training, games and sparring. Some of the kids also came to the evening classes and turned up for Saturday class as well. This meant a total of 22 hours training this week for kids like George, Princeley and Bob. Almost 6 months worth in one week.
We were all a bit tired after the final class on Saturday, but the level of skill and sparring has certainly risen to the kids who attended the course and there is a greater cohesion in the class. We also had some beginners who trained all week. Welcome to you. Some children were eligible for their gradings. Well done Luke. Daisy, Freya for geting their red belt and to Alex for getting his yellow.
The week has seen loads of different training disciplines such as Bungees, Plyo boxes, Parralettes, Ladders, Focus pads, Punch bags, Foam batons etc. Lots of basic techniques and defences plus of course plenty of sparring. Oh! and Nerf wars!!
This has been the perfect set up for the up and coming tournament season and has also given a boost to theose who will be grading in September and December.
A great week for the club. The next camp will be a small one at half term and then at Christmas
Time for a rest now.
