First tournament for the Grand Slam at Crawley and an excellent, well organised tournament it was.
From the registration on Sport data to the inclusion of Facillitators to help organise the mats, The competition was Excellent. It even started on time........and nearly finished on time as well.
Liz 1st x2, 3rd
Kat 2nd x2
Andy E 3rd
Katrina, Bob, Charlotte and George fought well but no medal this time.
Fighter of the day was difficult to pick But I think it must be Rossi. His first fight was Excellent. LIz's final was also awesome. Her patience and timing was spot on. Paige fighting the girl she lost to in the previous section and then beating her by several points was a great moment. George doing the same. Andy's timing and focus. Robbie fighting hard against a much bigger opponent. Kat's semi final. Adam's kick that Almost hit.
As usual it's great to win trophies, but the improvement is where the long game is and each tournament is showing this whether we win or lose. Great work today team
We went to Southampton for the southern area Grans slam on Sunday.
Taking a team of lower grades and some who want mat time, the Grand slam is a good local tournament to gain experience and get a feel for competition fighting.
As it was a bank holiday weekend the turnout was low this time, but still there were plenty of good opponents to compete against.
Belle and jazmine ended up in the final again with Belle winning this one with her round kick.
Jake showed great composure and good blitzing as he fought through to a winners place.
Oliver had a tough fight his first time out, but stayed the course and scored a lovely Blitz on his opponent.
Callum also showed great spirit and carachter. and hard punching.
Dan had a bit of trouble in his first section, but came good in teh second with a 1st and 2nd place.
Adults saw Andy H and Finn fighting for the first time in Competition. They ended up in the final together and Andy took the title over Finn this time.
Ben also got to the final after beating team mate Andy G in the semis. Ben Fought well against his opponet and scored with a great counter hook kick, but he let the fight get away at the end and had to settle for silver.
Rory also won his category well, developing his pulling strategy on his opponent.
Dan 1st & 2nd
Andy G 3rd
Andy H. 1st
George Taylor and Jamie Adams entered their first match up fight night on Friday. George was fighting in Light continuous and Jamie in points category.
George had a tough fight in his first bout which went to extra tima and despite George stopping his opponent on several occasions the fight went the other way by a point. He then had a one minute rest and had a fresh opponent to fight for another 2x2 minuite rounds/ George Put everything into both fights and scored some great shots, but it was hard to fight two battles back to back with new opponents.
Jamie was also in the ring for the first time and was a little overawed by the situation. He scored some good points, but was not thinking about the fight and run into a few points which took the fight away.
Despite the results it was great experience for both of them and they enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next one.
Well done to Charlotte who fought in Birmingham recently at the Junior euro cup.
There wer no grade categories only weight and the tournament had excellent fighters in all categories.
Charlotte won gold in her first section winning against a fighter whom she had not beaten before.
She then moved up a wight and made it to the finals where she had hard fought bouts and lost by one point in a two round final.
A great effort from Charlotte who is showing great form in her fighting at the moment.
Double tournament weekend for BKO. Liz, MMaggie Robbie and Rossi wnet to teh Hungarian world cup. Liz was fighting in four sections and won gold in the over 65kg light con section she also entered u65kg light con and both Poins section gaining Bronze in two and reaching theinal of the points where she once again went to extra time against the World Champion. Liz unfortunately pulled her hamstring during the extra time and had to settle for silver this time. Maggie, Robbie and Rossi had difficult fights due to their movin up a sectoin as they are now 13 and have to fight in the under 16 yrs category with Maggie Giving away over 10 kilos and 3 years to her opponent. Nevertheless they soldiered on and gained the experience. Well done team.
The rest of the team went to the Northampton open where they picked up 25 medals including 9 first places.

Well done all. :)
Next tournament is the Junior Euro cup on Sunday.
We took a small squad to a quieter superleague today. All that sunshine and a bank holiday coming up meant it was smaller than usual, but still some great fighters there.
Maggie gold x 3. 4th place
Katrina and Belle fought well today but had to fight in a much bigger section.
Robbie took the fight to all his opponents and was showing gret timing and speed. Some awesome head kicks and blitzes. He was unlucky to get injured in the 3rd place fight off of one division and had to pull out.
Maggie was not on her usual form today, but still managed 3 golds which is the sign of a gret fighter.
Rory showed his improvement and tidier fighting style. When this becomes more natural for him he will be very difficult to compete against.
Ellis could have won her section today. When she is confident in her blitz and reverse punches she scores well. Unlucky in the 3rd place fight off as well.
Rossi found his backfist
Kat entered the advanced section and is getting herself back into tournament fighting. More movement and fakes will get her through.
Gabor had to enter the points section and showed great blitzes but now needs to be a bit more disciplined especially when returning to the fighting position.
There was some great fighting and good improvements from the team today. A bit unlucky not to get higher places in some sections, but loving the improvement. Well done.
What an amazing weekend at the French open!!!!
Tears of laughter everyday!! ??
From singing loudly in the car, to trampoline ball (greatest game ever invented) it wa definitely a trip I will never forget.
Seminar was brilliant and we met some great people, working on numbers.
The tournament was a bonus for us.
Sean fought well scored some quality points and was his first tournament since 2015
Little George was sick IN THE VAN!!! So didn’t get to fight but trained very hard at the seminar and gave us support throughout the day.
The tournament was an open grade tournament so for many fighters a step up.
We cannot thak Joël Vandomme and the family for the amazing hospitality. We were honoured to be let into your house and will never forget how well you have treated us!
We love your family x
So much fun and a great experience for everyone.
I hope the French blues aren’t too strong today
Robbie Brown fought in his first fight for WKO in wales and was in the thick of the fighting all the way. In the semi final round he had a lot of ground to make up for the team and drew them back level. They eventually went on to the final and after an amazing performance against some great teams the WKO team were champions. Well Done Robbie.
We took a team to Hands down tournament at Chessington today

Abbi fought well, but had a hard fight in the final against Paige. 2nd
Robbie Beat an opponent that he was losing to by 10 clear last year. A graphic demonstration of his improvement. Also tried light con for the first time.1st, 3rd
George Fought everyone and looked good in the light con.2nd, 2nd, 3rd
Kamilla first time out for Kamilla. Great fighting and she won a couple. 4th
Crystal is going from strength to strength and using her kicks and backfist to good effect. Now needs to keep her head forward.4th
Kat has come back strong especially her light con . Jabs were kats strength toady, 2nd, 2nd
Belle fought in a combined group with the heavier weights, but that didn'faze her. The usual gutsy performance.3rd
Jaz Also in the combined section. Showed no fear and aws always in the fights.4th
Katrina Had a good blitz today and was unlucky in the final.2nd
Rory Kept it calm and clinical and it showed in the result.1st

Some great performances today and most importantly loads of improvement. Well done to all the first timers.
10 tournaments completed so far this year. Here are the top 10 fighters
Liz is topping the league with Maggie 2nd . Both are way out in front at the moment. George and Robbie chasing hard in third and fourth place. Page is still strong in 6th and Andy Evans has fought his way to 7th. followed by Charlotte in 8th. Our highest youngest fighter is Katrina 9th and Mitch holds on to 10.
Have a look and see where you are.
Different points scored for the difficulty level of each tournament. For example Winchester scores 8 for a win and Point fighting cup 15.
