The September beginners course got off to a flying start with 15 new pupils. After a short introduction and handing out paperwork etc we were off! Beginning with a short warm up consisting of running and then playing various forms of tag we got straight into learning the first punches on focus pads. Then some stretching and kicking using the bar and with partners.
We then learnt the first defences and culminated with putting it all together on the punch bags.
The work rate was high and there were plenty of red faces, but everyone survived well. Great atmosphere and a great start to teh course.
We still have some space if any late comers want to join.
A big THANK YOU! to the Post office for their donation of £1000 to the club. We are using the funds to pay for the kids entries to tournaments. Focusing on children who are beginners or want the opportunity to gain more experience in competitions and become future champions.

George Silver, Bronze team.
Princeley. Bronze, Bronze team
Bob Bronze team.

George Bronze Open weight.
Some great performances today. Jasmine showed her strength of spirit and adaptability in her fighting. Coming back from 4 points down and after being hurt.
Princeley did the same in his section.
Paige was strong in her individual category and it was just a short loss of concentration that cost her the gold.
Charlotte's fighting is going from strength to strength with much more variation and determination now. Unlucky in the final.
Jake and Bob had to take on bigger and more experienced opponents today
George hit some nice shots in the open weight but the refs were not all in agreement today.
A good start back, but it took some time to get through it today.
Well done all.

Friday saw the final day of the summer camp. 15 hours of training, games and sparring. Some of the kids also came to the evening classes and turned up for Saturday class as well. This meant a total of 22 hours training this week for kids like George, Princeley and Bob. Almost 6 months worth in one week.
We were all a bit tired after the final class on Saturday, but the level of skill and sparring has certainly risen to the kids who attended the course and there is a greater cohesion in the class. We also had some beginners who trained all week. Welcome to you. Some children were eligible for their gradings. Well done Luke. Daisy, Freya for geting their red belt and to Alex for getting his yellow.
The week has seen loads of different training disciplines such as Bungees, Plyo boxes, Parralettes, Ladders, Focus pads, Punch bags, Foam batons etc. Lots of basic techniques and defences plus of course plenty of sparring. Oh! and Nerf wars!!
This has been the perfect set up for the up and coming tournament season and has also given a boost to theose who will be grading in September and December.
A great week for the club. The next camp will be a small one at half term and then at Christmas
Time for a rest now.
Day 3 saw loads more training, games, sparring and Nerf wars (Zombie apocalypse). The kids are working flat out. Some are coming to the evening classes as well and training 5-6 hours.

Today was all about circuits and sparring. After some team games and warm up We began with a blitzing circuit of one minute rounds, then a punch strengthening circuit of the same. We followed with lots of sparring, tag team and individual analysis of each fighter. Finally there was more Nerf wars mayhem and we all crashed after.
Today saw the start of the summer camp.
We began with some Dodgeball and team games and exercises. Then after a stretch we worked on some basics and split into different groups. Advanced class worked using the boxes, bungees, leg weights and Paralettes to develop power and speed. The inters were working on avoidance and counters and the beginners worked through the red belt grading.
We the did some sparring and tag team finally finishing off with a mad nerf wars game. A great start to the week.
Well doe all.
